How distance learning works
Starting to Study
Your study texts and online learning files will contain everything you need to start studying by distance learning. Each of our distance learning courses has been written to a specific syllabus, so you can be confident that you will learn everything you need to achieve a high grade in your examination.
WHOLE
WHOLE stands for the Wolsey Hall Online Learning Environment. All our distance learning courses are offered online through WHOLE and will allow you to:
- submit distance learning assignments to your tutor and receive your grades assessment at the touch of a button
- access relevant prescribed learning resources from anywhere with a connection to the internet.
Your Tutor
Your tutor is your personal learning coach. He or she will be available throughout your distance learning course to give you help with specific issues, and talk you through difficult topics. He or she will also provide you with detailed feedback on your distance learning assignments. Your tutor will keep in touch with you on a regular basis throughout your distance learning course to check on your progress and give you encouragement and advice.
All our distance learning and home study courses include assignments at various points and it is important that you complete these in line with your agreed programme. Not only are they an important means of embedding your learning, they will also build confidence in your ability to master the subject at hand and enable you and your tutor to gauge your progress. When you have completed your assignment, you email it via WHOLE to your tutor for grading and detailed feedback.
Your Student Adviser
Your adviser is there to help you choose the most suitable distance learning course and ensure that your programme of study runs smoothly. Distance Learning in India
I studied for my GCSE through Wolsey Hall whilst I was living in New Delhi and sat my exams in the British Council offices there. Wolsey Hall provided the coursework and tutorial support from Oxford. It was a new experience, and one which gave me more personal support than I had ever had in a classroom setting.
Indeed, it was many years before I felt able to throw away the coursework on English and French literature from Wolsey Hall, because I reverted to it often in the course of my later, more advanced, studies.
